Signed 3" x 4" glossy black and white photo of famed Russian actress Lyubov Orlova, dated August 11, 1948, inscribed "Sending greetings to Tanechka Chichikova—Lyubov Orlova."

Lyubov Petrovna Orlova (1902-1975) was the first recognized film star of the Soviet Union (USSR), and a prominent theater actress and gifted singer. Born to a family of Russian nobles in Zvenigorod near Moscow, Orlova grew up in Yaroslavl. When she was seven, the Russian opera singer Fyodor Shalyapin predicted she would become a famous actress.

Orlova's performance in the 1934 musical comedy, Jolly Fellows, earned the young star the sympathy of Stalin and the title "Honorable Actor of the RSFSR" (aka the Soviet Union). In subsequent years she starred in four popular movies which also became instant Soviet classics: Circus (1936), Volga-Volga (1938), Bright Path (1940), and Spring (1947). In 1941 Orlova was awarded the Stalin Prize, and in 1950 she became the first woman to receive the title of the People's Artist of the USSR for her cinematic body of work.
