Vintage signed photograph by one of America’s most accomplished World War I aviation heroes. Inscribed “With my best wishes / To Edward S. Wilson / Eddie Rickenbacker.” Black and white 8″ x 10″ in near fine condition, with mounting adhesive residual on reverse which slightly seeped over onto the top border edge, not affecting photograph. This photo was taken when Rickenbacker was president of Eastern Airlines, and presented to its recipient at a luncheon on April 28, 1948 at which Rickenbacker was the guest speaker.

Eddie Rickenbacker (1890-1973) was an American fighter ace in World War I and Medal of Honor recipient. With 26 aerial victories, he was America’s most successful fighter ace in the war. He was also a racecar driver and automotive designer, a government consultant in military matters and a pioneer in air transportation, particularly as the longtime head of Eastern Air Lines.
