This is a lovely original typed letter from Miss Crawford on her personal light blue Classic Laid stationery. Dated November 13, 1971, Crawford sends thanks to Marty Stepper, who worked for Harcourt Brace Jovanovich when they published Crawford’s book “My Way of Life” in 1971. Stepper escorted Miss Crawford during her Boston book tour. She writes:

Dear Marty,

It was wonderful seeing you in Hartford, and thank you for being so helpful. I am sorry I am very tardy with this letter but I blame it all on the book tour. I booked myself in too many cities too fast.

I am so looking forward to seeing you in Boston.

Bless you, and I wish you a very happy Thanksgiving and holiday season.

Joan

(Adding, in her own hand):

P.S. It was wonderful too working with you in Boston and bless you for the blueberry muffins – they were sensational – Love, Joan

The holograph postscript and two signatures are in bold black Sharpie. The letter is accompanied by the mailing envelope postmarked New York. The photo shown, by Yousuf Karsh, is shown only for reference and is not included.
