Original Cabinet Card Unsigned - 1859
Original and high desirable cabinet card of the renowned poet, taken in the London studios of Elliott & Fry in 1859. The albumen print is mounted on stiff photographic card stock of the period, 4″ x 6.5″, in very good condition. Pencil notations of her name on recto and verso were not signed in the hand of the subject.
Elizabeth Barrett Browning (1806-1861) was one of the most prominent poets of the Victorian era. Her poetry was widely popular in both England and the United States during her lifetime. A collection of her last poems was published by her husband, poet Robert Browning, shortly after her death.
