Jocose bank check signed by author Truman Capote, drawn on his personal Marine Midland Bank account and humorously made payable to his friend Joanne Carson, ex-wife of the late talk-show host Johnny Carson. Dated October 10, 1977, Capote has handwritten: “Pay to the order of Joanne / Style is knowing the difference / Truman C.” In very good condition, and (being jocose) uncancelled. An attractive item reflecting Capote’s wit and well-known reverence for all things “high-style.”
